In 1991 Ken retired from the daily grind of working and finally
had time to pursue other interests, one of these was 'painting'. He started by signing up for art classes and for the
next 9 years he studied oil painting. He loved the medium and was inspired by the works of the 'Old Masters" particularly
Constable, Gainsborough and Corot to name a few. Finally, when all the walls in the house were filled by paintings he decided
it was time for a change.. a change of medium to watercolours. After seven years of instruction, studying and experimenting
with this tricky medium he is now begining to develop a style of his own. He has been greatly influenced by the works
of Nita Engle, James Fletcher Watson and the late Gordon MacKenzie as well as many modern painters, he of course
cannot forget his patient instructors to whom he is forever grateful.
Today light and colour flood his paintings as he explores new combinations
of the two. He is now begining to abstract parts of his paintings but admits he still has much to learn.
